In a dystopian future where the United States has devolved into a brutal police state, television networks have replaced traditional entertainment with deadly games that pit prisoners against each other in a fight to the death. The main attraction is "The Running Man," a popular show featuring Death Row inmates who are forced to run for their lives while being pursued by professional killers. Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a wrongly accused man, sees an opportunity to clear his name and escape the clutches of the totalitarian government when he is sentenced to appear on "The Running Man." With the help of his old friend, Damon Knight (Marvin Chomsky), Ben sets out to survive the deadly game and expose the truth about the corrupt government. As Ben navigates the treacherous terrain, avoiding the deadly gazes of the professional killers and the surveillance cameras that monitor every move he makes, he begins to unravel a sinister plot to control the population through entertainment. With his wits and cunning, Ben must outsmart the system and make it back to civilization alive. Meanwhile, the show's popular host, Damon Knight (Richard Dawson), is determined to capture Ben and ensure the ratings remain high. As the stakes grow higher, Ben finds himself in a desperate bid for survival against all odds.
